Gadget* (English for knick-knack / technical gimmick / apparatus / accessory / device / machine) refers to a usually small tool, object, or device with a functionality that is not yet known. Gadgets are characterized by their compact construction as well as by their potential usability in everyday, mostly body-related contexts. Characteristic of gadgets is the promise of relief, increased performance, or self-optimization, oriented toward standardized goals of optimization such as increasing efficiency, regulating bodily processes, or functional enhancement.
