Telling stories from inside the wall led me to think about the metabolic processes of a building. Like intestines, cables and pipes transport energy and information and connect each building to the larger organism of the urban sewage system and power grids – a network of arteries, veins, and organs.
Each work begins with an engagement with a specific site. In some versions, there is a personal connection to the building: private stories, memories, and experiences are collected and left behind in the space. In other cases, the work is based on a research into the history of the architecture. Small details emerge in interviews; marginal stories from architectural archives are uncovered and stored in the form of an archaeology of memory.
